    1862 The Cotton Planters Loan Association note from Unionville, South Carolina.
    This note features a Vignette of Slaves picking cotton above the title. A young woman is printed in the upper left corner and Calhoun at the lower right. This scarce scrip declared that it was "redeemable in gold within six months after the raising of the blockade of our Coast." The notes were secured by "a pledge of cotton of six cents per pound for the amount of the issue as well as the private property of the stockholders." Strong signatures! Scarce!
    This note grades Fine with a tiny hole at the top. It measures ~ 6" x 2.75".
