Japanese Byobu Folding Screen - Pheasants & Cherry Blossoms above the mountains. This was my mother’s and hung on her wall for 55 years. She purchased it new in the mid fifties. It was temporarily stored and has been hanging in my house since. It is in very good condition with a slight tear (1.5 inches) on the back and some small imperfections in the seams on the front which are pictured. I haven’t taken it down to show an image of the back because it takes some work to rehang it. If you really want to see a picture of the back I will provide it.
The painting is on raw gold silk and it catches the light differently throughout the day, showcasing some very subtle watercolor and gouache technique. I’ve seen my share of byobus and this one is very nice. I will include hanging hardware with the purchase. Measures 36" x 71". Item will ship UPS or Fedex Ground.
